During my first semester, when I took the “Storytelling: A world of humanistic immagination” class with Professor Kim Yoon-jung, both my classmates and the professor herself recommended that I should take the “Movies, English & Life Lessons” class. I shared my passion for languages with her, and she generously took the time to introduce me to the General English courses available at our university. Encouraged by her guidance, I enrolled in “Movies, English & Life Lessons” in the following semester.

At first, I signed up simply hoping to take a few English-taught classes alongside my Korean courses, as I thought it would ease my academic pressure. However, to my surprise, the class turned out to be far more engaging and rewarding than I had expected. I met many friendly Korean classmates and, most importantly, Professor Kim Bo-ram - a sweet and dedicated professor who truly cares about her students.

Throughout the course, I had countless opportunities to practice speaking English. Professor Kim was incredibly patient, always listening attentively to students’ responses and stories while offering thoughtful support. The class was an ideal environment for students who love English and want to learn in a relaxed yet meaningful way. Everyone was respectful and took each shared story seriously, which made the discussions even more enriching.

Beyond improving my English skills, I was also able to hear many inspiring stories from my classmates. This helped me build deeper connections, which was especially valuable as one of the few international students in the class. To this day, I still keep in touch with some of the friends I met there. By the end of the semester, I had not only gained valuable insights into life lessons through films and shared narratives but also built lasting friendships and cherished memories. I also introduced the course to a Russian friend and a Vietnamese friend from the Department of English Language and Literature. I hope they will be able to join that wonderful course in the next semester.

This semester, I have enrolled in two more courses taught by Professor Kim Bo-ram: Multimedia English for Literature and English Communication through Global Issues. I believe this semester will also be meaningful and rewarding.

This scholarship is not just financial support; it is a stepping stone for me to refine myself and discover the profound value of studying abroad. I am confident that my dedication, hard work, and passion make me a strong candidate for this opportunity.

Trong học kỳ đầu tiên, khi tôi tham gia lớp học “Storytelling: A World of Humanistic Imagination” do Giáo sư Kim Yoon-jung giảng dạy, cả bạn cùng lớp và cả chính giáo sư đều gợi ý tôi nên đăng ký học lớp “Movies, English & Life Lessons”. Tôi đã chia sẻ niềm yêu thích ngoại ngữ của mình với cô, và cô ấy đã rất nhiệt tình giới thiệu cho tôi các khóa học tiếng Anh Đại cương tại trường. Nhờ lời khuyên và sự hướng dẫn ấy, tôi đã đăng ký học lớp “Movies, English & Life Lessons” vào học kỳ tiếp theo.
 

Ban đầu, tôi chỉ đơn giản mong muốn được học một vài lớp học bằng tiếng Anh để giảm bớt áp lực từ các môn học bằng tiếng Hàn. Nhưng thật bất ngờ, lớp học này lại vượt xa sự mong đợi của tôi – vô cùng thú vị và bổ ích. Tôi đã gặp gỡ nhiều bạn học người Hàn Quốc thân thiện và, quan trọng hơn cả, là Giáo sư Kim Bo-ram – một giáo sư ngọt ngào và tận tâm, luôn quan tâm đến học sinh của mình.
 

Trong suốt khóa học, tôi có rất nhiều cơ hội để luyện nói tiếng Anh. Giáo sư Kim luôn kiên nhẫn lắng nghe câu trả lời và câu chuyện của sinh viên, đồng thời đưa ra những lời động viên đầy sâu sắc. Đây là một môi trường học lý tưởng cho những ai yêu thích tiếng Anh và mong muốn học trong bầu không khí thoải mái nhưng đầy ý nghĩa. Mọi người đều rất tôn trọng nhau và coi trọng những gì người khác chia sẻ, điều đó khiến các cuộc thảo luận càng thêm sâu sắc.
 

Không chỉ cải thiện khả năng tiếng Anh, tôi còn được lắng nghe nhiều câu chuyện truyền cảm hứng từ các bạn học. Điều này giúp tôi xây dựng được những kết nối sâu sắc hơn – điều đặc biệt ý nghĩa với tôi vì tôi là một trong số ít sinh viên quốc tế trong lớp. Đến nay, tôi vẫn giữ liên lạc với một vài người bạn tôi đã quen từ lớp học đó. Vào cuối học kỳ, tôi không chỉ học được những bài học quý giá về cuộc sống thông qua các bộ phim và câu chuyện được chia sẻ, mà còn có những kỷ niệm đẹp và tình bạn lâu dài. Tôi cũng đã giới thiệu khóa học này cho một người bạn Nga và một người bạn Việt Nam đang theo học ngành Ngôn ngữ và Văn học Anh – hy vọng họ sẽ có cơ hội tham gia lớp học tuyệt vời này vào học kỳ sau.
